Medical Cell Support – Strategic & Technical Role

About the role

The Medical Cell Support position provides strategic and technical medical assistance to MSF field missions, overseeing pharmacy management, health information systems, and patient safety across projects based in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic and technical support for field teams on pharmacy, medical orders, nursing care, infection prevention, patient safety, staff health, and hospital management.
• Support implementation of medical strategies, contribute to operational milestones, and assist in budgeting and supply planning.
• Validate international medical orders and local purchases, ensuring compliance with organisational protocols.
• Monitor health information systems, guarantee quality data collection, and produce regular medical reports.
• Supervise staff health policies, medical evacuation guidelines, and referral procedures.
• Act as liaison between field missions, the cell, and the medical department, ensuring effective communication and implementation of solutions.
• Provide functional support to Medical Coordinators and propose operational research opportunities.

Required profile

• Qualified Medical Doctor, Clinical Officer, or Nurse.
• Minimum two years of field experience with a medical NGO at a coordinator level.
• Experience in emergency interventions is an asset.
• Strong project management, organisational, and analytical skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of pharmacy tools and International Medical Order procedures.
• Proficiency with medical data software such as HMIS/DHIS2.
• Ability to define medical and operational strategies in diverse contexts.
