Professor of Water Resources

About the role

The Kenya-AIST Institute is seeking senior academics to lead its Water Resources programme. The position is full‑time, based on‑site in Konza City, and involves teaching, research, and active participation in departmental activities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in water resources, ensuring compliance with the Institute’s quality framework.
• Lead and coordinate national, regional and international research collaborations, securing external funding and consultancy contracts.
• Supervise doctoral and master’s theses, internships and field attachments, and mentor junior academic staff.
• Develop laboratory manuals, promote innovative teaching approaches, and champion the dissemination of research outputs.
• Engage with industry partners for technology transfer, commercialization of innovations and joint research projects.

Required profile

• Earned PhD in a relevant discipline from an accredited university.
• Minimum five years of experience as an Associate Professor or nine years of research experience at a research faculty level.
• At least sixty peer‑reviewed publications, with forty in refereed journals, and supervision of ten doctoral candidates.
• Evidence of patents or commercialised innovations is an advantage.
• Membership in a relevant professional body and compliance with Chapter 6 of the Kenyan Constitution.
