Regional Compliance Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Regional Compliance Manager to lead the compliance framework for a fast‑growing fintech lending business operating across multiple African markets. Based in Nairobi, you will ensure regulatory compliance, AML/CFT controls and policy implementation while supporting the company’s rapid expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Own the regional compliance framework, including policies, procedures and internal controls aligned with Group standards.
• Design practical compliance controls for branches, field teams and partners, scalable as volumes increase.
• Partner with business units on new market entries and product launches from feasibility through go‑live.
• Oversee AML/CFT, KYC, sanctions and financial‑crime compliance programmes across the region.
• Run the compliance monitoring plan, track findings and ensure timely closure.
• Lead regulatory reporting, inspections and manage relationships with local regulators.
• Report compliance status and key risks to regional management, Group Compliance and Board‑level committees.
• Guide local compliance teams, coordinate training and promote consistent practice across markets.
• Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Internal Audit and other control functions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Relevant compliance certification (e.g., CAMS, ICA, CISI) is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance, risk, audit or regulatory affairs, preferably in‑house within financial services, fintech or banking.
• Proven experience implementing AML/CFT programmes and conducting compliance monitoring.
• Multi‑jurisdictional experience, especially in African markets, is a plus.
