Temporary Support Assistant – Program (Humanitarian Advocacy)

About the role

Action Against Hunger USA is seeking a temporary support assistant to join its advocacy team focused on the Horn of Africa. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in humanitarian advocacy, policy research and digital campaigning within a global non‑profit organization.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, development and implementation of advocacy activities and campaigns.
• Assist in creating multimedia packages, policy analyses, toolkits and social‑media content for external engagement.
• Help produce and finalise advocacy and external‑relations deliverables.
• Coordinate logistics for workshops, webinars, trainings and other events.
• Monitor humanitarian landscapes in the Horn of Africa and identify priority issues.
• Manage external‑relations assets such as the website, social‑media platforms and monthly newsletters in partnership with the communications team.
• Ensure all communication products comply with branding and donor guidelines.
• Undertake additional tasks assigned by the Regional Advocacy Specialist.

Required profile

• Interest in humanitarian issues and advocacy work in the Horn of Africa.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow guidance from senior staff.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to support field visits and gather story material.
