Academic Advisor / Assistant Professor (Full-Time)

About the role

The Academic Advisor, Assistant Professor provides comprehensive academic advising for statewide and online programs. Based on the east side of Michigan, the role supports students in planning their coursework, navigating program changes, and preparing for future academic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist students in developing academic plans and course schedules.
• Advise on academic program changes and guide prospective students and families.
• Maintain and update individual student records, monitoring progress toward degree completion.
• Provide outreach and support to students on probationary status.
• Respond promptly to student inquiries and help select appropriate courses and concentrations.
• Support summer orientation, registration, and program inquiry processes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
• At least one year of relevant experience, preferably in higher education.
• Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Required skills

• Knowledge of academic advising theory and practice.
• Proficiency in maintaining student records and using advising software.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with students, families, and staff.
