Accountant – Finance & Accounting (Kisii, Kenya)

About the role

The Accountant will oversee all finance‑related processes for Hamo & Associates across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Based in Kisii, the role ensures accurate bookkeeping, compliance with tax regulations and timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting transactions and maintain the general ledger.
• Prepare budget forecasts and timely financial statements.
• Execute monthly, quarterly and annual closing procedures.
• Reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank statements.
• Compute taxes, prepare tax returns and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Report on the company’s financial health, liquidity and performance.
• Conduct internal audits of financial documents and transactions.
• Maintain data confidentiality and perform regular database backups.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.
• CPA(K) certification and ICPAK membership.
• Minimum 2 years audit experience and 5 years accounting experience in an accounting firm.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with general ledger functions and GAAP compliance.
