Accountant – Inventory

About the role

The Accountant – Inventory will manage and maintain accurate records of the hospital’s inventory, including medical supplies, property, plant and equipment, and other materials. The role ensures compliance with IFRS and safeguards hospital assets across all clusters.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile the Fixed Asset Register to the General Ledger, breaking down assets into cost, depreciation and net book value.
• Post all invoices in the ERP system with correct description, class, cost and depreciation rate for capital expenditures.
• Plan, schedule and oversee inventory checks, counts, asset verification and tagging exercises with stakeholders.
• Review inventory adjustment requests and ensure proper approvals before processing.
• Compute and run monthly depreciation per asset group and record accurate IFRS‑compliant entries.
• Monitor stock in transit and coordinate timely clearance with stock controllers.
• Participate in internal and statutory audits and lead efforts to protect inventory assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration or related field.
• CPA (K) certification.
• At least 4 years of general accounting experience in a busy accounting department.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems for invoice posting and asset management.
• Understanding of IFRS standards for fixed assets and inventory.
