Accountant

About the role

BrighterMonday Consulting is hiring an Accountant for Buy Rent Kenya Ltd in Nairobi (Westlands). The Accountant maintains accurate financial records, manages day-to-day accounting and supports financial reporting, tax compliance and financial control. The role reports to the CEO, with line reporting to the Sales Manager, and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and process supplier invoices, payments and expense claims
• Prepare and issue customer invoices, follow up on outstanding receivables and reconcile bank, mobile money and other balances
• Prepare monthly management accounts and monitor cash flow, revenues, expenses and budget performance
• Assist with annual audits and prepare and submit tax and statutory returns (Corporate Tax, VAT, PAYE, withholding taxes)
• Ensure eTIMS/iTAX compliance and that subscribers are paid up, deactivating expired accounts
• Reconcile Xero with ZOHO CRM and support payroll, sales commission calculations and statutory deductions
• Meet weekly strategic meetings with the CEO and Sales Manager, and ongoing task meetings with the Relationship Manager

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce in Finance/Accounting with ACCA/CPA
• 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory compliance
• Audit background is an added advantage
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
