Accountant, Pension, Provident Fund & Payroll

About the role

Aga Khan University Hospital is hiring a full-time, on-site Accountant for pension, provident fund and payroll duties in Nairobi. The role supports accurate and timely payroll and retirement benefits administration, including statutory payments, final settlements and payments to locum doctors and independent contractors, with coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Pension and provident fund administration: ensure accurate deductions, timely enrolment of new employees, timely remittance of contributions and other statutory payments, and coordination of leaver payments and transfers between schemes
• Ensure scheme compliance with the Registrar of Beneficial Accounts (RBA) and other regulators
• Provide secretariat services to the Board of Trustees on staff superannuation schemes
• Coordinate audits of statutory accounts by helping draft and review them
• Process payroll for locum doctors and independent contractors, and allocate payroll costs to budget centers at month-end
• File statutory payments with NSSF, SHIF and HELB and submit them on time
• Process final and full settlements and ensure recoverable amounts are paid
• Generate monthly payroll reports for managers

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related field, plus professional qualification such as CPA (K); having both is an added advantage
• At least three years' experience in a related field
• Ability to work independently and in a team, meet tight deadlines and communicate effectively
• Adherence to confidentiality and ethical standards, and a proactive attitude toward process improvement

Required skills

• Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
• MS Office applications and accounting systems
