Advisor – Just Energy Transition Advocacy (Africa Focus)

About the role

Recourse is seeking an Advisor based in Africa to support its just energy transition advocacy and climate finance reform work. The role bridges policy research, international finance, and climate justice, focusing on how global financial systems affect energy transition outcomes in the Global South.

Key responsibilities

• Support research on development finance and international financial institutions.
• Contribute to advocacy strategies on just energy transitions.
• Engage with global partners and policy stakeholders.
• Produce policy briefs, campaign materials, and strategic analysis.
• Support coalition‑building across regions and organisations.
• Participate in campaigns influencing global climate finance systems.

Required profile

• Experience in advocacy, policy, or climate‑related work.
• Strong understanding of development finance systems.
• Background in environmental, social, or climate justice issues.
• Excellent research, writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in remote international teams.
• Experience engaging with civil society or policy networks.
