Area Business Manager – Kenya

About the role

The Area Business Manager will manage sales, collections and distribution operations for Sun King’s EasyBuy solar products across the assigned region. EasyBuy enables off‑grid customers to purchase solar units through affordable instalments.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, train and retain a team of at least 40 Energy Officers, leveraging local influencers.
• Provide comprehensive training on sales, collections, product knowledge, inventory and logistics.
• Define clear daily routes, targets and responsibilities for Energy Officers.
• Conduct weekly field visits and joint sales activities to support officers and resolve issues.
• Meet or exceed monthly sales and collection targets set by the Regional Business Manager.
• Drive robust collection processes, including customer profiling and timely follow‑ups.
• Deliver world‑class customer service, resolving delivery, installation and warranty issues within 24 hours.
• Organise weekly meetings with Energy Officers and the Regional Business Manager to address performance and motivation.

Required profile

• Minimum diploma in sales, marketing or related field; a degree is a plus.
• At least three years of field sales experience, preferably in FMCG, micro‑finance or telecom.
• Passion for serving rural consumers and solving their energy needs.
• Process‑oriented, able to work independently and manage a geographic area.
• Strong commitment to Sun King’s social mission of affordable clean energy.
• Excellent communication and team‑building skills.
