Assistant Accountant – Urgent (Hospital, Garissa)

About the role

The hospital in Garissa is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team on an urgent basis. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the preparation of reports in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain ledgers, journals and supporting documentation.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions promptly.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash‑flow movements.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Post financial transactions into the accounting system and ensure tax and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with payroll processing and staff‑related financial reconciliations.
• Reconcile supplier, customer and general ledger accounts.
• Participate in inventory and asset verification exercises.
• Provide documentation for internal and external audit processes.

Required profile

• Minimum KCSE (O Level) qualification with at least CPA Part II certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or a related field (CPA qualifications are an advantage).
• At least three (3) years of proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or Accountant in a busy trading or commercial organization.
• Experience in the healthcare, hospitality or service industry is a plus.
