Assistant Business Development Manager (Retail Business)

About the role

Britam is hiring a full-time Assistant Business Development Manager (Retail Business) in Nairobi. The role holder drives top-line retail sales growth through retail and corporate business, manages a team of Business Development Officers and drives business through all intermediaries. Key responsibilities

• Drive retail sales targets and grow retail client numbers through all channels, with at least three branch and client engagements per week.
• Train the Financial Advisor (FA) network and branches on investment products, processes and target markets, and open markets for them.
• Maintain relationships with Branch Managers so that 50% stay on target, and manage channel and BDO engagements and pipelines with a 30% conversion target.
• Pitch clients jointly with BDOs, Branch Managers and FAs, follow up to closure, handle client onboarding and day-to-day relationship management.
• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, organize industry events, generate pipeline and ensure ROI.
• Prepare presentations, periodic reports and other materials as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Commerce or a related field.
• Minimum 5-7 years' experience in business development, sales, relationship management, partnerships, asset management, banking or insurance.
• Demonstrable experience in client acquisition, lead conversion and building relationships with corporates, institutions, intermediaries and high-value clients.
• Experience preparing proposals, presentations, tenders and reports.
• A digital-first mindset, customer focus, agility, data-driven decision-making and ability to thrive in a changing environment.
• Professional certifications such as CISI, CFA or CPA are preferred.
