Assistant Civil Engineer - Construction

About the role

Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec, a manpower management firm operating across East Africa, is recruiting an Assistant Civil Engineer in Nairobi on behalf of its client. The ideal candidate has a strong background in civil engineering, especially road construction and structural projects, and excellent communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, design and execution of civil engineering projects.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to develop project plans and schedules.
• Communicate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Implement traffic management plans for public road construction projects.
• Carry out risk assessments for public road construction, covering traffic flow, pedestrian safety and visibility.
• Ensure compliance with regulations on temporary traffic control, signage and road closures.
• Coordinate with local authorities, emergency services and other stakeholders to minimise disruption and protect public safety.
• Protect workers from hazards posed by heavy equipment, vehicle traffic and environmental conditions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
• Certified and registered engineer with EBK.
• At least 3 years of experience in construction projects, including road construction (including urban roads) and structural works.
• Proficiency in English.
• Ability to integrate well into the organisation and communicate smoothly internally and externally.

Required skills

• MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• MS Project for scheduling and project management.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD for design and drafting.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
