Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

Fairmont The Norfolk, a historic landmark hotel in Nairobi founded in 1904, is hiring an Assistant Financial Controller. The role reports to the Cluster Director of Finance & Business Support and covers leading the accounting department, preparing financial statements and supporting budget and forecast activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the accounting department and ensure all standards are followed
• Compile and analyse financial information to prepare financial statements, including monthly and annual reports
• Maintain financial records in line with accepted policies and procedures and meet all reporting deadlines
• Ensure accurate and efficient monthly, quarterly and year-end close
• Establish and monitor accounting control procedures
• Manage and support budget and forecast activities and assist Departmental Leaders as required
• Oversee financial audit preparation and coordinate the audit process
• Analyse revenues and expenses, and advise on business operations, financial commitments and resource use
• Provide strategic recommendations and follow departmental and safety policies

Required profile

• Senior leadership experience in accepted accounting practices and principles
• University or college degree in a related discipline
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
• Reliable, detail-oriented and able to work as part of a team
• Ability to focus on guest needs while remaining calm and courteous

• Computer literacy in Microsoft Windows applications and other relevant applications
