Assistant Internal Auditor I

About the role

Bomet University College is recruiting an Assistant Internal Auditor I who reports to Internal Auditor 11. The role covers system audits, budget performance checks, monthly reconciliations and post-audit reviews of payment vouchers.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out system audits of student fee invoicing and payments.
• Review budget performance of part-time teaching and medical expenditure, comparing budget versus actual expenditure and file reports.
• Verify and reconcile the University's postgraduate accounts on a monthly basis and file reports.
• Check contracts and tender awards to ensure 30% reservation compliance for special groups, women, youth and people living with disabilities.
• Post-audit paid payment vouchers that were not pre-audited and file a monthly report.
• Perform ad-hoc assignments from time to time.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Management or Business Administration (or equivalent) and CPA Part 11.
• OR a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration (or equivalent) and CPA Part 11, with six years of experience including three as Assistant Internal Audit Scale 9 in an accredited university or equivalent.
• OR CPA (K) with six years of experience, three of which as Assistant Internal Audit Scale 9 or equivalent.
• Registered with the relevant professional body and in good standing.

Required skills

• Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
• Applicants with foreign earned qualifications must have their certificates certified by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
