Assistant Manager – Forensic Investigations

About the role

Equity Bank Kenya Ltd is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead forensic investigations across its branch network. The role focuses on probing unauthorized transactions, account takeovers, operational losses and customer disputes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into unauthorized transactions, account takeovers, operational losses and customer disputes.
• Collect, analyse and interpret transaction records, system audit trails, customer instructions and supporting evidence.
• Interview customers, staff and other relevant parties and obtain statements.
• Prepare detailed investigation reports and case summaries for management review.
• Maintain accurate documentation and investigation records.
• Escalate significant findings, fraud indicators and control weaknesses to management.
• Liaise with branches and operational units to resolve investigation matters.
• Support recovery efforts and disciplinary processes where applicable.
• Participate in fraud awareness and investigative training initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Commerce, Banking and Finance, Law, Accounting or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ACAMS or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in forensic investigations, fraud risk management, banking operations or law enforcement.
• Proven ability to conduct complex investigations within a financial institution.
