Associate Manager – Sustainable Finance

About the role

Systemiq is seeking an Associate Manager to join its Sustainable Finance practice in Kenya, focusing on public and development finance. The role leads advisory projects on sovereign financing strategies for climate, nature and development priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex workstreams and day‑to‑day delivery of advisory projects.
• Manage small project teams, including Associates, Analysts and external experts.
• Develop high‑quality strategy decks, technical notes, briefing papers and senior stakeholder materials.
• Design and assess financing approaches such as concessional finance, blended finance, sustainability‑linked bonds, debt‑for‑climate swaps and risk‑sharing structures.
• Engage with ministries, debt management offices, central banks, IFIs/DFIs, donors and private‑sector partners.

Required profile

• Degree or Master’s in economics, finance, international development, public policy or related field.
• 4‑6+ years of experience in strategy consulting, development finance, sovereign finance, IFIs/DFIs, finance ministries or related institutions.
• Proven experience managing workstreams or projects in advisory or multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of sovereign financing, concessional finance, blended finance and climate/nature finance instruments.
• Ability to structure ambiguous problems into clear workplans and client‑ready outputs.
