Baker

About the role

Amentum is hiring a full-time Baker in Mombasa, Kenya, within its food services and catering operations. The baker prepares breads, pastries, desserts and other bakery products to standardized recipes and production schedules, ensuring quality, presentation and food safety.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare breads, pastries, desserts and other bakery products according to standardized recipes and production schedules.
• Ensure all items meet quality, presentation and food safety standards.
• Accurately measure, weigh and adjust ingredients to keep recipes consistent.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation and personal hygiene standards in line with company policy and regulations.
• Keep workstations, equipment and storage areas clean, organized and sanitized each shift.
• Record daily production quantities and food waste to support inventory control and reporting.
• Complete daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and keep required documentation.
• Finish production so the next shift can continue uninterrupted food services.
• Assist with inventory management by storing ingredients and rotating stock first in, first out.
• Support bakery staff when the head baker is absent and carry out other assigned duties.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of baking experience in a full-service, commercial or institutional food service setting.
• Current ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification.
• Valid passport, valid for at least one year at hiring, and ability to obtain country-specific visas and pass contract medical requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials; must be able to read, speak and understand English.

Preferred qualifications

• Prior experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
• Valid driver's license and country driver's license.
• Experience in multiple food service stations, including grill and general food preparation.
• Strong organizational, time management and customer service skills.
