Boiler Operator – Carton & Paper Production

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Boiler Operator to operate and maintain the factory steam boiler system supporting carton and paper packaging production.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the boiler safely and efficiently to ensure a reliable steam supply.
• Monitor pressure, temperature, water levels, fuel consumption and steam output.
• Conduct routine inspections of burners, pumps, valves, gauges and water‑treatment equipment.
• Start‑up, shut‑down and isolate the boiler according to approved procedures.
• Perform boiler water testing and maintain water‑treatment parameters.
• Record operating data, fuel use, faults and maintenance activities in logbooks.
• Identify abnormal conditions, leaks or safety issues and report them immediately.
• Coordinate with maintenance and production teams during breakdowns or planned maintenance.

Required profile

• KCSE or equivalent; Certificate/Diploma in Boiler Operations, Mechanical or Plant Engineering preferred.
• Valid boiler operator licence as required by regulations.
• Minimum 2–3 years of hands‑on experience operating industrial boilers in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in carton, corrugated, paper or packaging factories is highly preferred.

Required skills

• Industrial boiler operation (including HFO‑, diesel‑ or biomass‑fired units).
• Boiler water‑treatment and feed‑water system management.
• Mechanical troubleshooting of boiler equipment.
• Accurate record‑keeping and logbook maintenance.
