Business Development Manager - Bancassurance

About the role

CIC Insurance Group, a listed insurance and financial services group operating in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan and Malawi, is hiring a Business Development Manager for its bancassurance function. Reporting to the Head of Sales – Retail, the role generates revenue by distributing retail life products through alternative channels such as banks, saccos, brokers and independent agents, and develops a model that maximises retail life business from partners.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, engage and onboard strategic partners (co-operatives, banks, MFIs, brokers and independent agents); negotiate and manage partner contracts and hold regular reviews
• Review and recommend sponsorship opportunities and use market intelligence to grow partnerships
• Build and maintain a trained sales force, oversee team productivity against retail life targets and help set targets
• Take part in recruiting and training assistant regional managers, team leaders and sales officers
• Monitor and optimise channel performance, feed product development needs back from partners and train partners on retail life products
• Provide sales reports, partner impact and risk areas, and ensure the team follows internal sales processes and external regulations
• Handle budgeting, performance incentives and expense approvals

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Commerce, Insurance, Economics, etc.)
• Certificate of Proficiency and Diploma in Insurance/LOMA
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including 4 years in a supervisory capacity
