Business Development Manager – East Africa (Senior)

About the role

Enterprise Singapore’s Nairobi Overseas Centre is seeking a (Senior) Business Development Manager to support the Regional Director in expanding Singaporean enterprise opportunities across East Africa. The role focuses on building partnerships, generating market intelligence, and promoting bilateral trade between Singapore and the region.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop business opportunities for Singapore‑based companies in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Burundi, Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan.
• Build and nurture relationships with government agencies, private sector partners and civil‑society organisations to improve market access.
• Organise marketing trips, business missions and other promotional events.
• Gather market intelligence, develop sector strategies and produce clear, concise reports to justify outcomes.
• Promote and deepen bilateral trade ties between Singapore and East African markets.
• Undertake any additional duties assigned by the Regional Director or Enterprise Singapore headquarters.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor’s degree from a reputable university.
• At least 5 years of experience in international trade, investment promotion, business development, market analysis, marketing or banking.
• Strong compliance orientation and ability to work within established processes of a large organisation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to travel for work and collaborate with multi‑site, multicultural teams.
• Demonstrated personal values such as integrity, professionalism and a willingness to learn.
