Business Development Officer – Corporate Life

About the role

The Business Development Officer – Corporate Life will drive profitable growth of Old Mutual’s corporate insurance portfolio. You will be responsible for acquiring new corporate clients, expanding existing relationships and delivering an exceptional client experience throughout the sales lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the approved annual budget for Group Life, Group Credit Life, Group Last Expense and Group Critical Illness.
• Identify and convert corporate opportunities, develop a sustainable sales pipeline and exceed sales targets.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, brokers, agents and other intermediaries.
• Prepare accurate quotations and proposals, follow up on submissions and improve conversion rates.
• Gather market intelligence on competitor activity, pricing trends and emerging product opportunities.
• Support credit control, premium collection and timely issuance of policy documentation.
• Maintain detailed records of sales activities, prospects and client engagements in the CRM system.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development, sales or account management within insurance or financial services.
• Proven track record in corporate insurance sales, preferably Group Life, Group Credit Life or employee benefits.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Insurance, Finance or a related field.
• Professional insurance qualification (e.g., ACII, IIK) or progress towards one is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to manage pipelines, meet revenue targets and work collaboratively with brokers and corporate clients.
