Business Development Officer - Corporate Life

About the role

The Business Development Officer will drive profitable growth of Old Mutual’s corporate insurance portfolio, focusing on Group Life, Group Credit Life, and related employee benefit products. You will identify new corporate opportunities, build a sustainable sales pipeline, and deliver an exceptional client experience throughout the sales lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve the annual revenue budget for Group Life, Group Credit Life, Group Last Expense and Group Critical Illness.
• Prospect, engage and cross‑sell to corporate clients and brokers to generate new business.
• Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline and pursue opportunities to exceed targets.
• Identify multinational companies and subsidiaries that could benefit from regional or international insurance solutions.
• Prepare accurate quotations and proposals, follow up on submissions and convert opportunities.
• Gather market intelligence on competitor activity, pricing and emerging trends to inform product and pricing strategies.
• Build and sustain relationships with corporate clients, brokers, agents and other partners.
• Support credit control, premium collection and timely issuance of policy documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development, sales or account management within insurance or financial services.
• Proven track record in corporate insurance sales, especially Group Life, Group Credit Life or employee benefits.
• Experience working with brokers, intermediaries and corporate clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Insurance or related field; professional insurance qualification is a plus.
