Cold Chain Driver (Refrigerated Trucks)

About the role

Stratostaff East Africa is hiring a full-time Cold Chain Driver in Nairobi to drive refrigerated trucks and transport temperature-sensitive goods such as FMCG, food and beverage products. The driver must keep the cargo within its specified temperature range throughout transit and deliver on time, in full and in good condition.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust temperature settings on refrigeration units to stay within temperature guidelines.
• Plan routes and manage time so deliveries are punctual.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized truck inside and out, and keep it ready for transport of sensitive goods.
• Keep licenses, certifications and documents up to date (speed governor, NTSA inspection, branding licence, county distribution licences, driver's licence, vehicle insurance).
• Follow fuel-efficient driving and refuelling practices, and adhere to health and safety protocols.
• Report accidents, damages or hazards immediately, and park safely while avoiding environmental hazards.
• Assist with loading and unloading, communicate with dispatch, warehouse staff and customers, and keep delivery, inspection and fuel records.

Required profile

• Valid commercial driver's licence (Class BCE).
• Secondary level certification; defensive driving training mandatory.
• Proven experience in cold chain or temperature-sensitive logistics preferred.
• Knowledge of the Kenya Highway Code, local traffic laws and company policies.
• Ability to work independently and with others, and to handle temperature-sensitive products carefully.

Required skills

• Familiarity with cold chain logistics and understanding of refrigeration units.
• Vehicle maintenance knowledge and hygiene standards.
• Time management, route planning and excellent driving skills focused on safety and efficiency.
• Good communication and ability to manage delivery logs, inspection records and fuel usage.
