Communication Officer – Kenya

About the role

The Communications Officer will lead the implementation of Farm Africa Kenya’s communications strategy, enhancing the organisation’s visibility and reputation while supporting programme teams and building staff capacity in effective communication.

Key responsibilities

• Raise the profile of Farm Africa’s work in Kenya through stakeholder mapping, media strategy and content creation.
• Develop and implement communications and marketing action plans, produce promotional materials and ensure consistent branding.
• Coordinate with global communications teams, manage website content and social‑media channels, and support internal communications.
• Assist with donor reporting, fundraising collateral, and documentation of events and field visits.
• Build communications capacity of staff through training, tool rollout and crisis response support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in communications, media or marketing, preferably with an NGO or agriculture‑linked organization.
• Strong command of English and Kiswahili.
• Proven ability to produce written, visual and digital content for diverse audiences.

Required skills

• Proficiency with design and editing tools such as Photoshop and PowerPoint.
• Experience in photography, videography and video editing.
• Desktop publishing and graphic design capabilities.
• Competence in managing social‑media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook) and website content.
