Community Liaison Officer – Nanyuki

About the role

The Community Liaison Officer will build and maintain constructive relationships between the company and the host communities surrounding farms, factories and transport corridors in Nanyuki. This role ensures community concerns are identified, communicated internally and addressed in line with Kenyan law and international best practice, supporting the company’s social licence to operate.

Key responsibilities

• Establish regular, respectful engagement with community leaders, groups and representatives.
• Identify and map community stakeholders, assess interests and risks, and keep engagement records up‑to‑date.
• Proactively detect emerging community issues related to land use, employment, security, environment or operations.
• Facilitate two‑way communication on operational activities, changes and commitments.
• Assist community members in accessing grievance mechanisms and support timely resolution.
• Support early dialogue and informal mediation to prevent conflict escalation.
• Coordinate with operational, security, HR and contractor teams to ensure consistent messaging.
• Document engagements, issues and outcomes and produce regular reports for internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 24 months of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in community engagement, stakeholder mapping or grievance handling.
• Strong understanding of Kenyan community dynamics, local administration and relevant legal frameworks.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work across diverse cultural contexts.
• Ability to travel frequently to field sites and work on‑site.
