Senior Assistant Director for HR Management & Development

About the role

The Senior Assistant Director for HR Management & Development will lead the human resource functions for the Nakuru County Public Service Board. This on‑site, full‑time position oversees policy development, recruitment, performance management, training, and employee relations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR policies and ensure compliance with labour laws and public service regulations.
• Coordinate staff recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
• Manage employee performance appraisal systems and training programmes.
• Advise senior management on workforce planning, employee relations and organisational development.
• Supervise and mentor the HR team to achieve departmental objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum three (3) years serving as Assistant Director of Human Resource Management and Development, CPSB 04 (J/G ‘P’).
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Public/Business Administration, Economics, Education or Social Sciences.
• Master’s degree in a related field such as HR Management, Industrial Relations, Education or Business Administration.
• Membership in the Institute of Human Resource Management of Kenya (IHRM‑K) in good standing and possession of CHRP (K) qualification.
• Completion of a Strategic Leadership Development Programme (minimum six weeks) and a certificate in computer application skills.
• Demonstrated merit and ability reflected in work performance and results.
