Assistant Director for HR Management & Development

About the role

The Assistant Director for HR Management & Development will lead the human resource functions for the Nakuru County Public Service Board, ensuring effective recruitment, performance management, training and compliance with labour regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures aligned with public service regulations.
• Coordinate staff recruitment, selection and onboarding processes.
• Manage employee performance appraisal systems and training programmes.
• Advise senior management on employee relations, workforce planning and compliance matters.
• Supervise and mentor the HR team to achieve departmental objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum three (3) years serving as Principal Human Resource Management & Development Officer (CPSB 04).
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Public/Business Administration, Economics, Education or Social Sciences.
• Master’s degree in a related field such as HR Management, Industrial Relations or Public Administration.
• Membership in the Institute of Human Resource Management of Kenya (IHRM‑K) and CHRP(K) qualification.
• Completion of a senior management course of at least four weeks and a certificate in computer applications.
