Crane Operator

About the role

The company is looking for a crane operator to run overhead cranes and other lifting equipment safely and efficiently in its factory in Miwani, Kisumu, Kenya. The role also requires flexibility to work at the company's Kajiado factory when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Lift, move and position raw materials, finished products and other loads using overhead cranes and assigned equipment
• Inspect the crane, lifting accessories, controls, brakes, hooks, ropes and safety devices before each use
• Secure loads properly, keep them balanced and within the crane's rated capacity
• Follow approved lifting procedures, safety instructions and designated lifting signals
• Coordinate with production, warehouse and maintenance teams and keep clear communication with riggers and signalers
• Keep lifting areas clear of unauthorized personnel and report defects, unsafe conditions and incidents to the supervisor
• Maintain inspection and operational records and keep the work area clean
• Comply with safety policies, wear PPE and take part in safety training and toolbox talks

Required profile

• KCSE certificate or equivalent
• Relevant crane operation training and a valid operator's licence or certificate where required by Kenyan regulations
• At least 2 years of experience operating overhead cranes or similar lifting equipment in a factory, manufacturing, construction or industrial setting
• Knowledge of load limits, lifting procedures, workplace safety and basic equipment inspection
• Ability to interpret lifting signals and keep accurate records
• Flexibility to work at different factory locations, including Kajiado, and to work shifts or overtime when needed
