Electrical and Electromechanical Technician

About the role

The Electrical and Electromechanical Technician inspects, diagnoses, maintains and repairs electrical appliances, industrial machinery and electrical and electromechanical equipment so that factory operations run reliably with minimal downtime. The position is based at the Kajiado Plant and involves factory machinery, electrical appliances, workshops and production areas.

Key responsibilities

• Repair electrical faults in appliances such as fans, pumps, motors, heaters and power tools, and replace faulty wiring, switches, plugs, fuses and connectors.
• Maintain factory machinery, production equipment, motors, pumps and control panels, working with mechanical technicians and production teams.
• Carry out preventive maintenance, equipment testing and functional checks after repairs, and identify recurring problems.
• Follow electrical safety procedures, isolate equipment before repairs, and report major faults and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, maintenance activities and spare parts used, and keep the workshop clean and organised.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of experience repairing electrical appliances and maintaining industrial electrical equipment.
• Practical knowledge of electrical wiring, motors, pumps, control panels, switches and electrical components.
• Ability to use multimeters, electrical testers and other diagnostic tools, and to read basic electrical diagrams and wiring schematics.
• Relevant trade test certification or practical technical training is an added advantage.
