Critical Care Nurse – ICU/HDU

About the role

The Critical Care Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU/HDU, operating and monitoring advanced life‑support equipment. The role requires a strong clinical background, relevant certifications, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients in ICU/HDU, monitoring vital signs and responding to clinical changes.
• Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and blood products safely and accurately.
• Operate and monitor critical care equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps.
• Assist in emergency procedures, resuscitation, and advanced life‑support interventions.
• Maintain accurate patient records, nursing documentation, and infection‑prevention protocols.

Required profile

• Diploma or BSc in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Higher Diploma in Critical Care Nursing.
• Valid Nursing Council of Kenya practicing licence.
• At least two years of experience in ICU, HDU, Emergency Department, or a similar critical‑care setting.
