Critical Care Nurse (ICU/HDU)

About the role

Jordan Hospital is looking for a qualified and experienced Critical Care Nurse to join its team in Kitui. The nurse provides safe, comprehensive, evidence-based care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU), monitors patients continuously, identifies and manages clinical deterioration early, implements prescribed treatments and works with the multidisciplinary team to promote recovery and prevent complications.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU/HDU.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, clinical status and response to treatment.
• Operate and monitor critical care equipment, including ventilators and infusion pumps.
• Administer prescribed medications and implement nursing care plans.
• Recognize and respond promptly to clinical emergencies.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure effective handover and communication.
• Follow infection prevention and control measures, patient safety standards and hospital protocols.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma in Kenya Registered Critical Care Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Valid and current practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• At least 1 year of experience in a critical care setting.
• Must meet Chapter Six requirements of the Constitution of Kenya.

Required skills

• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
