Customs Clearance Clerk – Must Have Customs Broker License

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Customs Clearance Clerk who holds a valid Customs Broker License to join our team in Westlands. The role involves managing import and export documentation, ensuring compliance with Kenyan customs regulations, and supporting seamless cargo movement.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process all import and export customs documentation.
• Lodge customs entries using the appropriate customs systems.
• Calculate duties, taxes, and other charges and ensure accurate payment.
• Verify shipping documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and permits.
• Coordinate with KRA, shipping lines, airlines, port authorities, and other regulatory bodies.
• Monitor shipment progress, provide updates to clients, and resolve any clearance issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of customs transactions and shipment documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Clearing & Forwarding, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in customs clearance or freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan customs procedures and import/export regulations.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving abilities.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
