Customs Clearance Specialist

About the role

Zhafari Logistics Limited is seeking an experienced Customs Clearance Specialist to manage import and export customs procedures, ensuring compliance and smooth movement of goods for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate customs clearance procedures for both imported and exported goods.
• Ensure compliance with customs laws, import/export regulations, and other statutory requirements.
• Liaise with Kenya Revenue Authority, customs officials, port authorities, shipping lines, freight forwarders, transporters, and other stakeholders.
• Verify shipping documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and permits.
• Maintain accurate records of customs transactions, shipment documents, payments, and clearance activities.
• Prepare regular reports on shipment status, clearance performance, and outstanding issues.
• Advise clients and internal teams on customs requirements, duties, taxes, and clearance procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, and Clearing and Forwarding.
• Minimum of 5 years proven experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding, or a related field.
• Familiarity with customs procedures and ability to handle issues effectively.
• Established network of contacts related to customs clearance.
