Dental Assistant Intern

About the role

A leading dental clinic in Nairobi seeks motivated recent graduates and final‑year students for a Dental Assistant Internship. The role offers hands‑on experience in chairside assistance, infection control, radiography and clinic administration under close supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome patients, confirm appointments and escort them to the treatment suite.
• Set up treatment rooms, instruments and materials before each procedure.
• Assist the dentist during procedures, passing instruments and anticipating needs.
• Clean, sterilize and inventory instruments according to infection‑control protocols.
• Observe and assist with dental X‑rays under direct supervision.
• Handle laboratory case coordination and maintain accurate patient records.
• Support patient education on oral hygiene and post‑treatment care.
• Assist with front‑office tasks such as answering calls, scheduling and billing queries.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Dental Assisting, Dental Technology, Oral Health or related field (or final‑year student).
• Warm, professional attitude with strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Good communication skills and ability to stay calm in a busy clinic.
• Integrity and discretion when handling patient information.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of dental instruments and infection‑control standards.
• Dental radiography basics and radiation safety awareness.
• Microsoft Word, Excel and email proficiency.
