About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Deputy Director for Grants and Accountability to lead its Grants & Partnerships unit in Kenya. Reporting to the Country Director, the DDGA will oversee a team of about 20 staff and ensure effective management of donor awards, business development, and client accountability across multiple program areas.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the Grants & Partnerships unit, managing all awards, sub‑awards, and donor relationships.
- Oversee award reviews, technical and financial reporting, and compliance with donor requirements.
- Coordinate Project Cycle Meetings, budget vs. actual reviews, and ensure timely submission of reports.
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies, engage key donors, and lead proposal development processes.
- Drive business development activities, including reviewing funding calls and conducting go/no‑go decisions.
- Collaborate with senior management, especially the Deputy Director for Programs, to align program delivery with award requirements.
- Manage monitoring, evaluation, learning, and client accountability functions.
Required profile
- Proven senior‑level experience in grants management, donor relations, and humanitarian programming.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with senior management and external partners.
