Deputy Director, Supply Chain Management

About the role

The County Government of Nyeri (NCCS) is recruiting one Deputy Director, Supply Chain Management (grade NCCS 3, vacancy NCCS/2/2026). The post is permanent and pensionable and covers procurement, asset disposal and asset custody.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and implement public procurement policies, regulations, procedures and guidelines
• Ensure compliance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015 and its regulations
• Process tenders for goods and services according to policy and procedure
• Approve orders and requisitions
• Liaise with legal and user departments on procurement contracts
• Develop procurement plans with users and oversee their execution
• Oversee e-procurement strategies
• Provide secretariat services to Procurement Committees
• Coordinate disposal of unserviceable stores and develop systems for secure custody of assets
• Maintain an assets register as required by the Act

Required profile

• At least 15 years' work experience, including 3 years at Assistant Director level or a comparable position
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics, or Commerce/Business Administration (Purchasing and Supplies option), or equivalent
• Master's degree in a related field or equivalent qualification
• Membership of KISM, CIPS or another relevant professional body
• Completed leadership course of at least 4 weeks
