EHS Specialist

About the role

The EHS Specialist will support day‑to‑day operations of the Environment, Health & Safety department at Kerry’s Greater Africa manufacturing sites. Reporting to the EHS Lead, the role ensures compliance with internal policies, local legislation and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, manage and continuously improve EHS procedures and work practices across manufacturing sites.
• Maintain compliance with Kerry LIFE rules, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and local environmental and occupational health legislation.
• Facilitate internal and external audits, drive corrective and preventive actions, and report EHS statistics.
• Conduct incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and risk assessments, and promote a strong safety culture.
• Deliver training to employees and contractors on EHS systems, PPE usage and emergency preparedness.
• Perform daily floor walks, inspections, and monitor environmental performance against municipal and sustainability KPIs.

Required profile

• Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Science or equivalent.
• 3‑5 years of EHS experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
• NEBOSH or IOSH certification is an advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of OHS Act and National Environmental Management Act.
• Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 implementation and internal auditing.
• Proficiency in risk assessments, root‑cause analysis and incident investigation.
• Familiarity with PPE evaluation and emergency response planning.
