Electrician – Electrical Maintenance & Repair

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Electrician to provide electrical maintenance, repair, and construction support for a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting distribution systems while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and repair circuit faults and address life, health, and safety (LHS) issues.
• Install, maintain, repair, or replace electrical equipment in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Select appropriate materials for installations and complete maintenance and repair records.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Supervise assigned employees to ensure work meets standards.
• Maintain electrical tools and equipment in safe operating condition and keep work areas clean and hazard‑free.
• Perform additional qualified duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• At least two years of experience as an Electrician Helper.
• Physically able to stand, bend for long periods and lift up to 50 lb.
• Willingness to work in remote, potentially uncomfortable conditions with long hours and exposure to weather.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (preferred).

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of residual current devices (RCDs) and over‑current protective devices (OCPDs).
• Understanding of the National Electric Code or similar standards.
• Familiarity with alternating current (AC) theory, motors, starters, and transformers.
• Ability to perform electrical inspection, testing, and circuit fault finding.
