English Teacher – International School (Nairobi)

About the role

SABIS International School Runda is seeking qualified English Teachers to join its academic team in Nairobi. The role involves delivering the SABIS® curriculum, supporting student achievement, and contributing to a vibrant school community.

Key responsibilities

• Teach English using SABIS® lesson plans and methodology.
• Develop supplemental lesson plans when required.
• Mark examinations and assessments according to departmental schedules.
• Monitor student performance and discuss concerns with the Academic Quality Controller and Head of Department.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Provide additional academic support to students needing improvement.
• Assist students in preparation for external examinations, including revision and past‑paper practice.
• Invigilate examinations and ensure proper exam conditions.
• Participate in school activities, open days, sports, and other events.
• Support school duties such as substitution, student supervision, testing, and administrative tasks.
• Attend training and professional development sessions on the SABIS® Educational System.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education degree specializing in English or a relevant teaching qualification.
• Native‑level English proficiency.
• Registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) or equivalent.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
• Genuine commitment to student learning and academic achievement.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
