Entry-Level Finance Assistant

About the role

MAZIDO International, a community-led NGO based in Voi, Taita Taveta County, is looking for an entry-level / early career Finance Assistant to support budgeting, reporting, procurement, payroll and compliance. The role suits a recent graduate who wants a supportive, practical learning environment to build a strong foundation in NGO finance.

Key responsibilities

• Review, stamp and organise receipts, invoices, delivery notes and payment vouchers, ensuring each transaction has complete supporting documentation.
• Enter financial records, vendor bills and operational expenses into the accounting system (ERP) and Excel monitoring sheets.
• Support payment requests, manage petty cash vouchers, track project mobile money disbursements (M-Pesa) and help prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Assist the Finance Officer in preparing monthly statutory deduction schedules (PAYE, NSSF, SHA/NHIF, housing levy, withholding tax) and submitting returns via the KRA iTax portal.
• File project vouchers and contracts in readiness for internal reviews, annual audits and donor verifications.
• Spot discrepancies in bills, receipts or calculations early and follow up with programme colleagues and suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or a closely related field, graduated within the last three years.
• Quick to adapt to new software tools, digital workflows and organisational guidelines with minimal supervision.
• Previous industrial attachment, internship or volunteer experience in an office or NGO setting is welcomed; fresh graduates with strong motivation are encouraged to apply.
• Adherence to ethical standards, transparency and confidentiality, and a sharp eye for accuracy.

Required skills

• Comfortable with everyday computer applications, web portals and spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets).
• Ability to pick up new digital systems quickly.
