Factory Manager – Food Processing Plant

About the role

The Factory Manager will lead end‑to‑end manufacturing operations at Greenforest Foods’ processing facilities in Nairobi, overseeing honey processing, nut roasting and peanut‑butter production. The role combines strategic planning with a strong shop‑floor presence to ensure safety, quality and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily operations across multiple production lines to meet schedules, volume targets and delivery deadlines.
• Maximise Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), manage preventive and corrective maintenance, and monitor mass‑balance yields.
• Ensure 100% compliance with ISO 22000/FSSC 22000, HACCP, KEBS, OSHA and NEMA standards; lead internal and external audits.
• Control operational budgets, labour costs and utility consumption while aligning raw material inventories with seasonal sourcing.
• Develop and coach production, quality, maintenance and warehouse teams, fostering a Kaizen/5S culture and tracking KPIs such as scrap %, cost/unit and OTIF.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemical/Industrial Engineering or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• 7–10 years of FMCG/food‑processing experience in East Africa, including at least 4 years in senior plant management.
• Deep knowledge of KEBS certification, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000, HACCP and Kenyan OSHA/NEMA regulations.
• Proven expertise in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Root‑Cause Analysis and Total Productive Maintenance.
