Field Service Engineer – Generators & Compressors

About the role

As a PTS Field Service Engineer you will ensure the highest availability of Atlas Copco PT equipment—including generators, compressors and de‑watering pumps—through installation, maintenance and synchronization activities. You will work on‑site in Nairobi, reporting to the Business Line Manager, PTS, and will be responsible for minimizing downtime while upholding safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and test diesel generators, compressors and associated electrical systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on generators, control panels, compressors, pumps and auxiliary equipment.
• Inspect components such as alternators, AVR systems, control modules, engines and protection systems.
• Synchronize multiple generators, connect them to the grid and manage load‑sharing to optimise performance and fuel efficiency.
• Diagnose and repair faults in electrical and control systems of generators, compressors and pumps.
• Conduct risk assessments and adhere to safety, health, environment and quality requirements.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of experience with industrial generators and synchronization systems.
• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in power plants, data centres or large industrial facilities.
• Valid driving licence.

• PLCs and control system troubleshooting.
• Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and schematics.
