Finance & Accounts Officer – Venture Kenya

About the role

As the Venture Finance Officer for Venture Kenya, you will ensure that all money moving through the venture is accurately recorded, protected and transparently reported. You will review payment requests, oversee a small team handling receipts and disbursements, and provide up‑to‑date financial information to the Country Director and Holding Finance.

Key responsibilities

• Record and safeguard all incoming funds on the day they are received.
• Review and approve payment requests against approved budgets, ensuring complete invoices and supporting documentation.
• Oversee income, receipts, disbursements, payments and financial reporting functions to keep transactions accurate and traceable.
• Maintain audit‑ready financial records with zero missing invoices or unreconciled transactions.
• Compile and submit monthly financial reports to the Country Director and Holding Finance on time.
• Flag and resolve missing documentation or discrepancies before month‑end close and escalate any irregularities.

Required profile

• A degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Solid experience in financial management, budgeting or accounting, preferably within a nonprofit or social‑impact organization in Kenya or East Africa.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to make independent judgments on payment approvals.
• Clear communication skills to explain financial status to non‑finance colleagues.
• Integrity and discretion handling sensitive financial data and audit trails.
