Finance, Accounts & Taxation Manager (Commercials)

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Finance, Accounts & Taxation Manager to lead end‑to‑end tax and statutory compliance for our operations in Kenya. The role will oversee all tax filings, manage KRA audits, and handle customer‑related legal matters, ensuring the company’s interests are protected while minimizing tax and legal risks.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full spectrum of Kenyan taxes – VAT, Income Tax, Withholding Tax, PAYE, Excise Duty, Customs/Import taxes – ensuring timely returns, payments and accurate statutory filings.
• Coordinate KRA audits, assessments and queries; prepare responses, supporting documentation and track objections, appeals and settlements.
• Maintain a comprehensive database of customer disputes, claims and legal cases; work with external counsel to resolve litigation and recovery matters.
• Oversee company legal and regulatory compliance, monitor licences, registrations and ensure timely renewals.
• Provide tax advisory on new products, contracts, inter‑company transactions, imports and capital expenditures, identifying risks before implementation.
• Identify tax leakages, reconcile VAT, WHT, PAYE, Excise and Income Tax ledgers with returns and SAP, and follow up on tax credits or refunds.
• Prepare monthly MIS dashboards covering open tax cases, KRA assessments, tax exposure and customer legal cases.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) or CPA qualification – mandatory.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in finance, tax compliance and legal case management, preferably within Kenya.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax legislation, Finance Acts and KRA regulations.
• Proven ability to manage complex tax audits, legal disputes and regulatory filings.
