Finance and Contracts Officer – EU Delegation Kenya

About the role

The EU Delegation in Nairobi is seeking a Finance and Contracts Officer to join the Regional Partnerships Unit. The role supports the Global Gateway team covering education, health, agriculture and food security, ensuring financial initiation and compliance of contracts and procurement processes.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and review financial aspects of contracts, ensuring alignment with EU rules and Headquarters instructions.
• Manage procurement and grant award procedures, including preparation of tender files, evaluation support and financial initiation of payments.
• Monitor budgets, conduct financial reporting, risk assessment and ensure proper archiving of contractual documents.
• Support audit activities, follow up on recommendations and contribute to financial reports and KPI tracking.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum three years) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or Law.
• At least five years of post‑graduate experience in financial management/control, procurement or audit, preferably in an international organization or development cooperation context.
• Proficiency in English (C2) with strong analytical and interpersonal abilities.
