Finance Assistant – Accounting and Audit Support

About the role

The Finance Assistant will join the Finance team at AECF to provide accurate accounting and financial support services, ensuring timely accruals, reconciliations and audit assistance for a large international non‑profit organization.

Key responsibilities

• Accrue all transactions accurately in the ERP system.
• Manage vendor accounts, perform timely reconciliations and resolve vendor issues.
• Prepare bank reconciliation statements and other account reconciliations.
• Support the monthly accounts closure process and flag issues to the Senior Finance Officer.
• Assist with document retrieval for institutional and project audits.
• Maintain relationships with service providers to ensure quality and timely services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Commerce or Finance.
• Professional finance qualification (CPA or ACCA) and membership of a professional body.
• Minimum three years’ experience managing finances of a >$20 million international non‑profit, preferably with bilateral donors.
• Experience working with donors such as FCDO, GAC, KfW, IFC, EU, World Bank or SIDA.
• Proficiency in English; French is a plus.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with an ERP accounting system.
• Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and data analysis.
• Strong knowledge of accruals, vendor and bank reconciliations.
