Finance Manager

About the role

Solar Panda is seeking a Finance Manager to lead all financial operations for its Kenya business. The role will partner closely with the leadership team, providing insights that drive strategic decisions while ensuring compliance and robust internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and manage month‑end/year‑end close in accordance with IFRS and company policy.
• Partner with department heads on pricing, profitability analysis, and operational efficiency to support investment and expansion decisions.
• Drive annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, and build financial models for strategic planning.
• Manage liquidity, working capital, and rolling cash‑flow forecasts; oversee banking relationships and payment processes.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll accounting, and general ledger activities, ensuring accurate records and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls, segregation of duties, and risk‑mitigation processes.
• Ensure timely filing and payment of statutory obligations (VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, WHT) and act as primary liaison with the Kenya Revenue Authority.
• Coordinate external and internal audits, prepare documentation, and implement audit recommendations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce or related field.
• Professional qualification such as CPA(K) or ACCA required; MBA or related Master’s degree is a plus.
• 7–10 years of progressive finance experience, preferably in a high‑growth or clean‑tech environment.

• Proficiency with IFRS reporting standards.
• Financial modeling, budgeting and forecasting expertise.
• Cash‑flow management and liquidity planning.
• Tax compliance and statutory reporting (VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, etc.).
