Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Financial Accountant to join our Kenyan accounting firm. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing statements, and supporting tax compliance for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date financial records using accounting software and ensure compliance with Kenyan and international accounting standards.
• Prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and periodic reports.
• Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring adherence to Kenyan tax laws and supporting tax planning.
• Develop, monitor and analyse budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights to improve performance.
• Coordinate documentation for internal and external audits and respond to auditor queries.
• Analyse financial data, identify trends and recommend actions to enhance profitability and cost management.
• Maintain strong client relationships by addressing financial queries and delivering professional advice.
• Ensure accurate record keeping, timely reporting and compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Professional qualification such as CPA or ACCA is an advantage.
• Minimum 2 years experience as an accountant in an accounting firm or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan accounting standards and tax regulations.
• High ethical standards and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with online accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
